Fondazione La Rocca presents ET2020/24, a wide-ranging solo exhibition by Eugenio Tibaldi curated by Francesca Guerisoli that consists of a site-specific project at the Tempietto di Santa Maria del Tricalle in Chieti and several installation nuclei, set up in the foundation, representative of his last five years of research.

Informal Inclusion – Tempietto Santa Maria del Tricalle (2024) is the result of a collaboration with the Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio for the provinces of Chieti and Pescara and the Associazione Il Giardino delle Pubbliche Letture di Chieti. For the duration of one month, the small temple will be open to the public for an immersive experience through Informal Inclusion. The space takes on the function of an ‘active background’, light and sound are part of the courtly space that the particular conformation of the temple delivers to the public. The meanings running through this dreamlike environment remain suspended until the visit moves to the second space, in Fondazione La Rocca.

The spaces of the Fondazione La Rocca bring together a selection of works that Eugenio Tibaldi produced between 2020 and 2024 and offer a choral look at a series of projects that brought about an important change in his work. The pandemic period in fact led Tibaldi to a series of changes in his outlook on society and in particular on the concept of the margin, which shifted from a geographical and anthropological point of view to an intimate and personal analysis. Informal Inclusion (2024) is the last piece of these reflections, all conceptually linked.

On display in the foundation are the Informal Inclusion Project V.P. and Informal Inclusion Project T.T. and four cores reinstalled by the artist that serve as cardinal points for understanding the directions of thought that have strongly characterised his research over the past five years: Symposium 07 (2022), and the two previously unpublished Human attitude and The lost message (2023); Atopos (2022) and La forma spezzata (2023), works in which Tibaldi speaks of the Italian province as one of the most devious and complex margins; the series DEMOCRATIZATION OF THE HUMAN DEFECT (2021), on the relationship between humanity and power; and Architectures of isolation (2021), a cycle that allowed the artist to analyse one of the possible barangays of his existence.
